Meet the diverse cast for 5 Fly Girls. These women came together as friends and flight attendants to support each other through the process of transitioning from flight attendants to pilots. Together they all signed up for a program that will allow them to keep their hire dates and seniority as flight attendants, while they study and train to become pilots. They are all well on their way to reaching their dreams.
Jenny Phillips is a native Californian. She grew up in a very traditional Korean family, bringing her traditional values to her life and her career. Jenny was a financial advisor before starting a career as a flight attendant.
Sheena Tempo was born in the Philippines. Had she stayed in her village, at age 23 she was expected to be married and have kids. But Sheena flew outside the box and is well on her way to becoming a commercial pilot.
Megan Kojima is Japanese American. She grew up with questions about her heritage. Is she Japanese American, or an American who is Japanese, and spent time in Japan exploring her cultural Heratige.
Jennifer Karily is first generation American. Her parents escaped communism in Hungary and Romania so she could live a life of freedom. Traditionally the government would determine her career, but as an American, she is making her own choices, and is free to pursue the career of her dreams
Soyla Flor is a single mom. She grew up with a single mom and six siblings in a 1 bedroom apartment. Mexican, Soyla is first generation American, and her goal is to live out the American dream - but not just for herself. She believes, "If I don't live out my dream of becoming a pilot, then I won't be a good example for my son. I want him to live out his dreams too."
